Moving a heavy and bulky fridge is not something you can improvise.
Moving these large and cumbersome appliances isn't easy. But as often is the case, everything goes smoother with a little thought before taking action. Here are some tips and tricks for moving your fridge in a clever and safe manner. Let's get started!
1. Empty and defrost
First, make sure to completely empty the fridge / refrigerator and remove all removable parts to avoid breaking them during the move. Here's a little pro tip for you: keep those precious beers for the end of your mission because you might get thirsty! 😄
2. Tape up the doors
A roll of tape will be your best buddy for this task. Alternatively, you can go for plastic wrap, which prevents tape marks but can be a bit tricky to remove. And if you want to add some style to your fridge / refrigerator, we offer some uStock tape that looks fantastic! 😉

3. Move the fridge upright
Always be careful to move your refrigerator in an upright position or at an angle of less than 45 degrees. This is to prevent the motor oil from damaging the cooling system. Make sure to enlist some strong folks and use a vehicle that can accommodate the height of your fridge.
4. Wait for 4 to 6 hours
It's highly recommended to wait between 4 to 6 hours before plugging in your fridge / refrigerator again. This allows the gas to stabilize and ensures there are no air bubbles. If you have a modern appliance, you might get away with 2 hours, but it's best to check the manufacturer's instructions. However, if you "disobeyed" during step 3 and transported the appliance lying down, you should wait 24 hours before plugging it in and cross your fingers for a successful restart! 😅
5. How to store it
We recommend leaving the door slightly ajar to prevent mold and odors from developing.
Happy moving, and may your fridge stay cool and your beers cold! 🍻😄
